Your training data stays on your device. LaceUp does not collect, sell, or share your personal data. There are no user accounts, no tracking pixels, and no ads — ever.

What we collect — and where it lives

LaceUp stores all app data — training plans, athlete profile, shoe records, AI chat history — locally on your device using SwiftData. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it.

Nothing is transmitted to Thyngs servers. There is no LaceUp backend. The only server calls the app ever makes are to third-party services you explicitly invoke (listed below).

Apple HealthKit

LaceUp reads workout data, heart rate variability, and resting heart rate from Apple Health to match completed runs against your plan and detect overreaching signals. The Apple Watch companion app writes completed workout sessions to Apple Health.

HealthKit data is processed on-device only. It is never transmitted to Thyngs, never stored in iCloud by LaceUp, and never shared with any third party. LaceUp does not write health data other than workout sessions recorded during iPhone or Watch runs.

Location

Location access is requested only when you start a run using the iPhone run tracker (Quick Run → Run on iPhone). GPS data is used on-device to measure distance and pace during the session, then saved to Apple Health as part of the workout record. Location is never transmitted to any server.

Calendar

LaceUp creates a "LaceUp Training" calendar on your device to display scheduled workouts. If you have iCloud Calendar enabled on your device, this syncs through your own Apple iCloud account — LaceUp has no visibility into that sync and receives none of that data.

AI plan generation and chat

If you use the AI generator or chat, your workout preferences, training goals, and HealthKit summary (weekly km, average pace — no biometric identifiers) are sent to the Anthropic API to generate a plan. You provide your own Anthropic API key, which is stored in the iOS Keychain on your device only.

No personally identifiable information is sent to Anthropic. Anthropic's data handling is governed by their own privacy policy. Thyngs receives no data from these API calls and has no access to your API key.

In-app purchases

Premium and Lifetime purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. LaceUp uses StoreKit 2 to verify purchase entitlements on-device using Apple's cryptographic receipts — no purchase data is sent to Thyngs. Apple's privacy policy governs all payment processing.

Crash reporting

LaceUp uses Sentry for crash reporting and error tracking. Sentry collects anonymised diagnostic data — crash reports, error stack traces, device type, and iOS version — to help identify and fix bugs. No personal data, health data, plan content, or identifiable information is included. Personally identifiable data transmission is explicitly disabled (sendDefaultPii = false).

Launch waitlist

If you submit your email address on the LaceUp landing page to join the launch waitlist, we collect and store that email address solely to notify you when LaceUp becomes available on the App Store. This is the only personally identifiable information the Thyngs website collects.

Your email is used for a single launch notification. It is not sold, shared with third parties, or used for any other marketing. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in the notification email or by emailing [email protected] with a deletion request.

This website

thyngs.co uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and GDPR-compliant. No personal data is collected or stored. No third-party tracking scripts are loaded.

Data export and deletion

You can export all your training plans as a JSON file at any time from Settings → Export All Plans inside the app. You can delete all app data — plans, shoes, chat history, Watch schedule, calendar events, and notifications — from Settings → Delete All Data. Uninstalling the app removes all local data from your device.

Children

LaceUp is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the updated date at the top of this page will reflect it. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
